McCollum: National Park and Wilderness Water Protection Act

Post date: May 8, 2015 7:05:05 PM

I support H.R. 1796, the "National Park and Wilderness Waters Protection Act," because the greatest economic value of these lands and waters will come from them as they are: whole, healthy, and beautiful jewels of nature that attract people's presence as residents and tourists, and their global attention as readers, admirers, and audiences. The temporary gains that could be achieved--at public expense--by private interests by mining these lands and inevitably polluting these waters would pale in comparison to the long-term values and ongoing revenue generation of these lands and waters in pristine condition.
